City of Makassar

Day 6!

My sister, Amenk and I were just driving around the crowded city. I’m amazed how different the city looks since I left here 27 years ago. There are plenty of new malls, new hotels, new restaurants, new cafes, new “City”… CPI, Center Point of Indonesia. There’s no doubt, that the city of Makassar is growing rapidly. It’s a great travel destination, especially for foodies like me ☺️

What makes me sad is the city is very dirty. There are trash every where. People don’t have the awareness to keep Makassar clean. I hope they can change that.

We went to mama’s favorite “breakfast” place in the city. They have the best “yellow rice” dish in my opinion.

Day 7!

It’s hard getting up this morning. I’m missing my babies back home. But I’m fortunate that I got to FaceTime them 2/3 times a day. Thank you technology.

Going to the mall becomes a routine here. Because of the extreme heat lately, the electric company has been turning off the power almost every day for few hours at a time! So where do people go to cool off? They’re going to the mall 😊

I’ve been enjoying quality time with my sister. I thank God I still have the opportunity to see her and her family. I’m just heartbroken that I can’t see my mama anymore. I’m sorry mama 😢 You’re always in our hearts and will be forever missed.

Day 8!

Happy Sunday everyone, except Miami and it’s fans.

Today we’re just hanging out at home. Nawir, a friend of the family bought some fish to grill at home. So good! This is what I’ve been missing. Hanging out with friends and family, talk about nothing, and enjoying food and drinks together. I’m feeling blessed, ya Allah…
