The Great Sand Dunes National Park, CO

Our vacation is coming to an end. We are all pretty sad. But we tried to make the most of it . Our plan was to do one of the hikes at the Dunes. But we didn’t have much time and also energy to do it anymore. We were just playing by the stream of water running at the edge of the Dunes. It’s quite nice and pleasant. But the bugs are unbearable. Thanks to Hazel, we applied large amount of the bug repellent. Although they still find away to bite me 😭

We met a local from our eat stop last night, and he said since we were heading to the Dunes area, we need to check out the locals secret spot. Zapata Falls. It’s a few miles out side the National Park exit , and the road to the trail it’s a rough one. So you drive on this un-paved road for about 4 miles up, and you’d see a parking lot and has restrooms also. Zapata Falls has two trails. One is about 15-20 minutes hike up. At the end of this hike, you’d see a little creek from the snow melted water. The water is very cold. We did this one .

And if you do another 4 miles hike, eventually you will see the Zapata Falls. And if I am not mistaken there’s a lake near the Falls. Cord and I were talking about doing this one in our “next time” lists. We have a lot of “next time” lists from this trip ☺️

It’s been a long journey. And we don’t want it to end. At this moment, Cord has been driving 3,950 miles!!! And he still has around 300 more. We love him so much. Thank you, papa Cord for taking us to our best vacation, yet. We love every single moment that we did together.

Thank you all so much for tuning in!

Love,
